Rod was selected by the Sharks in the second round of the 2014 NHL draft as 53rd pick overall. He, however, continued to play in Switzerland for Genève-Servette HC.

Rod made his NLA debut for the Grenats during the 2013-14 season and has since then played 138 NLA games. Last year, the 20-year-old suited up 50 times for GSHC and scored nine goals and eleven assists for them. (bsc)
