Matthews, 18, did something unusual for a projected number one draft pick and went overseas to play with the ZSC Lions in his draft year. In his first season at pro level, he scored 24 goals and 25 assists in 40 games. Additionally, Matthews played 10 games for the Unites States at this year's IIHF World Championship, where he scored seven goals and four assists. (mso/abu)
