MEDICAL REPORT - That Lausanne's defenseman Philippe Seydoux will miss the start of the season is nothing new, but now the Blick has disclosed that Seydoux suffered a fatal bowel rupture during the off-season.

"He had some health problems during the summer and will probably not be able to return to the ice before mid-September," was the lapidary comment of LHC's coach Heinz Ehlers a week ago about Seydoux' state of health.

As the Blick now discloses, the 29-year-old suffered a life-threatening bowel rupture during the off-season and had to undergo an emergency surgery. In the course of a following two-week rest, Seydoux lost about 12 kilos and, therefore, still needs time to fully recover.
