Medical Report

Minnesota Wild forward Nino Niederreiter had to leave the season opener against the Colorado Avalanche injured only shortly after scoring his first goal of the season.

Niederreiter got injured when Avalanche winger Jack Skille dodged one of El Niño's hits. As a consequence, the Swiss forward fell awkwardly into the boards and left the game afterwards. Up to this point, there is no update.

There is, however, a controversy around Niederreiter's injury. As Mike Russo from the Star Tribune reports, head coach Mike Yeo pointed out after the game that there was only one doctor in the building who did not come to check on Niederreiter, which would be protocol. (tme) mt_ignore
