As the Südostschweiz reports, Marc Bergevin, the general manager of the Montréal Canadiens, has indeed given the 24-year-old goaltender the green light to join the Swiss national team. However, the confirmation of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation is still pending.
Robert Mayer has managed to achieve a 2.80 GAA and 0.909 save percentage in 28 regular season games with the Montréal Canadiens' AHL affiliate this season.
