SWISS ICE HOCKEY - As one can read in the Nordwestschweiz, former EHC Basel Sharks defenseman/forward Marvin Frunz has decided to bid farewell to professional hockey and focus on his off-ice career.

The 26-year-old is a product of EV Zug's organisation and even got to play 15 NLA games (one goal, three assists) for the Bulls in the 2007-08 season. However, he spent the most part of his hockey career in the NLB, playing for Lausanne HC (2008-11) and the now defunct EHC Basel Sharks. In 335 games, he put up 36 goals and 50 assists. In his time with Lausanne, he was also able to celebrate two NLB titles.

After the Sharks had to declare bankruptcy last summer, the defenseman stayed in Basel and played in the First League with EHC Basel KHL., scoring 17 points in 32 games. Frunz will not entirely hang up his skates, he is currently looking for a Second League team to play in, as the schedule is less time consuming than in the First League. (mso)
