EHC Kloten and Kevin Schläpfer have agreed to a contract valid until the end of the 2019-20 season. He will not only serve as head coach but also have an integral part in Kloten's newly formed technical commission.

Schläpfer thus succeeds Pekka Tirkkonen, who was relieved of his duties on October 11. For tonight though, Niklas Gällstedt and André Rötheli will remain in their positions as ad interim coaches. After tonight, Gällstedt will serve as Schläpfer's assistant coach, while Rötheli will return to his job as Elite A head coach.

The additional costs for hiring a new coach (including paying their former coach) will be covered fully by sponsors and supporting groups of EHC Kloten. Thus, Schläpfer's contract with EHC Biel has officially been dissolved. He would have had a valid deal with them until the end of the 2017-18 season.
