Dominic Moore was with the Toronto Maple Leafs until the end of last season and did not receive another contract in the NHL. The 38-year-old was without a club for the remainder of the year 2018. Nonetheless, Team Canada called him up for the Spengler Cup, where he made four games.

"Dominic Moore brings a lot of experience and leadership into our locker room. He is a good skater and will help out our offense", Lions' team manager Sven Leuenberger comments the signing.

The veteran has made 998 games in the NHL for various teams (the already mentioned Toronto Maple Leafs, the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens, Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild and the Pittsburg Penguins), recording 118 goals and 193 assists. This will be his first stop outside of North America.
