National League

As die Neue Zürcher Zeitung writes, the ZSC Lion' team manager Edgar Salis is busy working on their roster for the upcoming season. While Chris Baltisberger (photo) and Patrick Geering will likely stay with the Lions, some others might not.

In December, according to the same source, the Lions will start negotiating with their captain Mathias Seger once again. His contract expires at the end of the season. His future in Zurich is rather uncertain as the 39-year-old has lost a lot of his influence. Thus, Seger himself states: "I first want to see how it works out. It is my goal to return to the Top-6 again."

Patrik Bärtschi, Morris Trachsler, and Luca Cunti also have contracts that expire in spring. It is unlikely, according to the NZZ, that Bärtschi will receive a contract extension. Luca Cunti will presumably leave the team as well. Morris Trachsler's future, on the other hand, is still uncertain.

However, defenseman Patrick Geering and forward Christ Baltisberger will very likely extend their contracts. Baltisberger's new contract might even be announced soon. Geering, on the other hand, is not in a hurry but will presumably stay with his youth team as well.

Moreover, it appears that goaltender Niklas Schlegel could leave the team at the end of the season. According to the NZZ, EHC Kloten has cast an eye on him. As for Dominik Diem, Jerôme Bachofner, and Cédric Hächler, the three will have to be patient for now before they can talk with their employer. The same applies to their import players; the Lions will not negotiate with them before the end of the season.
