HC Lugano denies that Steve Hirschi has made a decision regarding his future. Christoph Schär (Blick) had reported earlier that the defenseman will put an end to his professional hockey career at the end of the current season.

The 35-year-old defenseman is a product of the SCL Tigers' organisation and played his first professional game for them in the 1998-99 season. In 2003, he then left Langnau and joined HC Lugano, a club he has been faithful to ever since.

Out of the 725 NLA games he has played in his career up to now, he suited up 544 times for the Bianconeri . An integral part of the team leadership (also as a captain from 2011 to 2016), he has scored 188 points for Lugano in the 14 seasons he has played for them.
