As Genève-Servette HC announced in today's press conference, Chris McSorley will stay with the Grenats. However, he will no longer coach the team but still serve as GSHC's general manager.

McSorley has been the head coach and the general manager of Genève-Servette HC since 2001. After 16 seasons working as their head coach, he will thus hand over the reigns to a yet to be determined successor. He will, however, still work for the organisation in the back office as GM.

Regarding the succession of McSorley, Mike Gillis had this to say: "That process will be a collaborative process where Chris will make a presentation to the Board of Directors about the candidates and a decision will be made. He'll work with Lorne [Henning], he'll work with me, if I can provide any value at all, but that's how we are going to proceed. Both on the business front and the hockey front."

Rumors about McSorley losing his coaching position or leaving the club entirely have been around for the last couple of weeks. Reports by Le Matin and the Tribune de Genève even compelled the club last week to send out a press release to state that "discussions and debates about the future of head coach Chris McSorley have not been initiated by them".

In other news, Hugh Quennec (majority shareholder) has also asked Mike Gillis to invest in the club and buy some of the shares. Gillis plans to take him up on the offer. As for his position within the club, he will oversee the work of McSorley and Henning, whereas Quennec will remain president of GSHC. Peter Gall will be responsible for the arena project. Furthermore, lawyer François Bellanger will become the newest member of the Board of Directors.
