As the ZSC Lions announce, Sven Leuenberger will be the club's new team manager. He will thus replace Edgar Salis, who decided to step down at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Leuenberger had worked as SC Bern's Strategic Sports Developer last season. He used to be the club's team manager until December 2015, when he stepped down in order to prevent a conflict of interest, as his brother Lars became the head coach of Bern. Leuenberger had worked for SCB as a player and as a staff member for 26 years altogether.

The Lions' CEO Peter Zahner had revealed to the Tages-Anzeiger that they had a long list of candidates for the job, including EHC Kloten's Peter Müller. In the end, Sven Leuenberger won the race. As for Edgar Salis, he will, as previously announced, work in the Lions' newly created scouting department.

Furthermore, Sven Leuenberger tells the Berner Zeitung in an interview that SC Bern is apparently looking for a new Strategic Sports Developer to replace him.
