According to La Liberté (relayed by SwissHabs), Mark French might be the front-runner for HC Fribourg-Gottéron's vacant head coaching position.

The 46-year-old Canadian is currently the head coach of the Calgary Hitmen (WHL) and signed a multi-year contract extension in June 2016. He is, thus, still under contract with the Hitmen for the upcoming season. Nevertheless, president Michel Volet will apparently meet with him in a couple of days.

French has been the Hitmen's head coach since 2014. However, he also has experience at the pro level, having coached the Hershey Bears (AHL) for several seasons as well as Medvescak Zagreb. Christian Dubé told La Liberté last week that the Dragons currently have a list of five candidates they are looking at for their vacant head coaching position.
