Medical Report

Out for last Tuesday's pre-season opener against the Canucks due to a strep throat, San Jose Sharks' prospect Timo Meier has meanwhile returned to the practice facility. However, there is currently still no timetable for his return.

"I'm definitely not feeling great," Meier tells Comcast SportsNet''s Kevin Kurz. "You want to get back on the ice, but there's just moments where you have to take a step back and take some time off to get back to 100 percent."

What began as a strep throat for Meier apparently developed into something more significant, although the Sharks' head coach Pete DeBoer says that it is still nothing the team is "really worried about."

The 19-year-old Swiss forward, who will get his blood checked in the course of today, will definitely miss the second pre-season tomorrow against the Coyotes, and probably also be sidelined for the third encounter in Vancouver on Sunday.
