NLA - As the Tages Anzeiger reports, the ZSC Lions are willing to extend the contract with their coach Marc Crawford. However, familial reasons or a calling from the NHL could be an obstacle.

There were no talks about a contract extension between the ZSC Lions and their coach Marc Crawford yet, but as ZSC's CEO Peter Zahner confirms, the Lions are willing to keep their coach in Zurich.

However, there are two possible obstacles. First, Crawford could insist on an out-clause for the NHL and the Lions might lose their coach during summer if an NHL-team would offer him a contract. "But I have to be realistic", Crawford says, "and there are many advantages here in Zurich."

On the other hand, also familial reasons could be a reason for Crawford's return to Canada. His children and his parents still live there. "Although my kids are grown up, they're not quite independent of me", Crawford told the Tages Anzeiger, "and I want to support my parents, as long as they are alive".

Crawford will return to Canada for Christmas and after that he will know more about his plans, the Canadian said.
