NLA - Robert Mayer has not hit the ice since he hurt himself in a pre-season game on August 9 and that is not likely to change in the next three weeks. Chris McSorley now faces the problem of finding a second goalie for Genève-Servette HC.

The 24-year-old goaltender is still recovering from an ankle injury and according to Le Matin's information might be out even longer than the end of September. Louis Matte, McSorley's assistant coach, says on the matter: "He has not skated since his injury, but we will know more on Monday after further medical examinations."

This of course brings about the dilemma of finding a temporary substitute for Mayer. "We will have to look at all options. Gauthier Descloux [on loan with HC Red Ice] has delivered solid performances during the Champions Hockey League games. He could be the solution", says Matte.

Otherwise the goalie market in Switzerland is pretty much dried out. Urban Leimbacher just signed a one-year contract with the ZSC Lions. Still on the search for a new team are David Aebischer and Nolan Schaefer, but if GSHC will go down that route is questionable.
