NLA - According to the sports-section of the Finnish website mtv.fi, former NHL-player Jarkko Ruutu has reportedly signed with EHC Biel in the Swiss National League A. His agent confirmed the report of Ruutu moving to Switzerland.

The now 39-year-old forward was drafted in 1998 by the Vancouver Canucks as 64th overall. He then played a total of 710 games (63 goals, 89 assists) in the NHL for Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, and Anaheim. During the last three seasons, he dressed up in Finland for Jokerit Helsinki, where he scored 37 goals and 53 assists in 176 games.

UPDATE As mtv.fi adds in an updated article, Jarkko Ruutu will join EHC Biel and, therefore, replace injured Niklas Olausson. The Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat writes that Ruutu has signed a temporary deal in Switzerland. - 22 October 2014, 12:34 PM
