The 28-year-old had been on a PTO with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but had not been able to earn a contract. He has appeared in 524 career NHL games for the San Jose Sharks, the Minnesota Wild, the Winnipeg Jets and the Calgary Flames, scoring 274 points. The past season, though, the forward spent mostly with the Flames' AHL-affiliate, the Adirondack Flames. (mso)
