SC Bern has signed the Canadian forward Derek Roy for the 2015-16 season. The 32-year-old, who was released from a try-out with the Washington Capitals a few days ago, played for the Edmonton Oilers last season.

Over the course of his career, Derek Roy has played a total of 787 games in the NHL in which he scored 551 points (196 goals, 355 assists). Between 2009 and 2012 he acted as alternate captain of the Buffalo Sabres. Since leaving the Sabres, he has played for no less than five different teams: Dallas, Vancouver, St. Louis, Nashville, and - most recently - the Edmonton Oilers.

Derek Roy is expected to arrive in Bern over the course of this weekend and should be making his debut for SC Bern in Tuesday's game against Genève-Servette HC if he obtains his license in time. (tme)
