EHC Winterthur announced already in May that their captain would take on a new challenge and head to Japan. Now, his new team has been announced.
EHC Winterthur
Anthony Staiger will join the Nikko Icebucks for the next season. Staiger has Japanese citizenship, so he will not count against the team's import player contingent.
The 32-year-old forward was, with the exception of two seasons with EHC Kloten, only ever under contract with EHC Winterthur. Last season, he recorded eight goals and 14 assists in 49 regular-season games.
