Last night in Prague, the Alliance of European Hockey Clubs handed out its annual awards. The ZSC Lions received the honors for Club of the Year, thanks to defending their National League title, winning the Champions Hockey League, and securing several trophies in junior hockey.

Fredi Pargätzi, longtime president of the Spengler Cup's organizing committee until 2015, was presented with the EHC Leadership Award.

As for the other Switzerland-based nominees, Kevin Pasche (Lausanne HC) and Vinzenz Rohrer (ZSC) lost to Skellefteå's Axel Sandin-Pellikka in the Young Player of the Year category. SaiPa Lappeenranta's Raimo Helminen won the award for Coach of the Year, beating out Zurich's Marco Bayer, among others.

Former longtime National League player Roman Červenka (HC Fribourg-Gottéron, ZSC, SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers), currently a member of Pardubice, secured the award in the category Career Excellence.
