For the home Worlds: Will Luca Cereda become Jan Cadieux's assistant?

This personnel shake-up has created a vacancy on the Swiss men’s national team’s coaching staff. As reported by journalist Nicola Berger (“"nau.ch"”), Luca Cereda is said to be the favorite for the open assistant coach position. 

Cereda coached HC Ambrì-Piotta until October 2025 and will take over the U20 national team for the upcoming season. With the upcoming home World Championship in mind, he is now set to bolster the coaching staff and assist new head coach Jan Cadieux alongside Marcel Jenni. 

According to Berger, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation has not yet made a decision, but the position is ideally to be filled in time for the two test games against Hungary in Biel next week.
