As "Le Matin" reports, in a press conference in Zürich the head coach of the Swiss national team, Patrick Fischer, announced that Lian Bichsel will not be wearing the Swiss jersey until after the 2026 World Championship, which will take place in Switzerland.
The young defender is paying the price for having declined to call-ups to participate in the World Juniors with the U20 national team in the past years. Fischer explained that also the Swiss team's players' council, made up of eight internationals, had spoken out against Bichsel's reinstatement.
