A few hours after announcing the termination of the contract with Lauri Pajuniemi, who has returned to the Malmö Redhawks, Lausanne HC has informed the media and the fans that they have acquired the services of Drake Caggiula. This past season, the Canadian suited up for the Edmonton Oilers' organization, mostly with their AHL affiliate.

John Fust, Lausanne HC's team manager: “We're delighted to welcome Drake to Lausanne. He's an experienced player with a solid track record in the American leagues. In addition to his offensive qualities and intensity on the ice, he will bring leadership to the dressing room." In the press release, the team describes Caggiula as a player who is highly involved in the defensive game, has excellent vision of the game in the attacking zone, can play the role of both passer and scorer, and knows how to be decisive in the moments that count.

In his career, Caggiula has always suited up in the NHL (mostly during his first pro years) or the AHL (the past three seasons). This past season, Caggiula put up an assist in seven games with Edmonton, while in 62 games with the Bakersfield Condors, he collected 52 points (24 goals).
