With the acquisition of Niklas Friman, HC Ajoie has secured the services of a "smart player with great leadership qualities" and a prestigious international career with the Finnish national team, with which he won two major tournaments. HC Ajoie now has two import defenders and four forwards under contract for the upcoming season.
Team manager Julien Vauclair on the latest signing: “He will bring experience and leadership to the dressing room and on the ice. He's an intelligent and highly motivated person who wants to be fully involved in our project, particularly in terms of coaching his young teammates."
Friman spent the last two seasons with Ilves Tampere, collecting 34 points (10 goals) in 126 Liiga games. Before that, he accumulated experience in the SHL (Brynäs IF), Liiga (TPS Turku, JYP, and HPK, winning the title with the latter), and KHL (Jokerit Helsinki). With the Leijonat, Friman participated in two World Championships and in Beijing 2022, conquering two gold medals in a few months in 2022.
