National League

After their initial application was rejected due to infrastructure shortcomings, the Swiss League club will meet with National League representatives.

Due to their arena not meeting the required standards, HC Sierre's application for a National League licence was rejected, despite including a list of works to be carried out to make the Graben compatible. The club does have a replacement project planned, but that one is only scheduled to be finished by 2029. Instead, as "Le Nouvelliste" writes, they want to find out what exact improvements need to be implemented at the Graben to at least obtain a provisional licence.

"We were hoping to obtain a provisional license by carrying out this work while the new ice rink is being built", president Alain Bonnet explains. "From a sporting perspective, if the opportunity to move up before the Valais Arena opens arises, we will seize it. For the NL, it is not the financial aspect that is the problem. It is the infrastructure."

That is where the meeting with the National League representatives comes in. "The goal is to find out what the requirements are so that we can meet them, carry out the necessary work, and reapply for a provisional license", Bonnet states.
