As the SCL Tigers announced earlier today, they have signed Hannes Björninen to a two-year deal, starting this summer. At the moment, the Finn is still playing for Örebro in the SHL. The possibility of Björninen joining Langnau was already reported back in November, by "Ilta Sanomat".
"Hannes Björninen is a true team player and leader", the Tigers' team manager Pascal Müller notes. "He always strives for improvement and his mentality and character are a perfect fit for the SCL Tigers."
Growing up as part of the Lahden Pelicans's organization, Björninen made his debut in men's hockey during the 2014-15 season. He stayed with the Liiga-team until 2021, had a short stint with Jokerit in the KHL, returned to the Pelicans and then headed off to Sweden to suit up for Brynäs IF and eventually Örebro.
With the 29-year-old, the Tigers will have yet another Finn on their roster next season, bringing them up to six.
