From now until at least the end of the year, Alex Formenton will wear the jersey of HC Ambrì-Piotta again. Additionally, the contract contains an option for an extension until the end of the season. The Canadian 24-year-old forward had been without a team since the end of the past season with the Biancoblù.
In their press statement, the club clarifies that they are aware of the ongoing investigation involving Formenton, but as of today, there is no conviction or even a charge against him. The club reserves the possibility of reviewing the contractual situation with the player should any new facts emerge. For his part, Formenton has the option of returning to the NHL at any time.
The ongoing investigation involving Formenton and other members of the Canadian squad at the 2018 World Juniors concerns a sexual assault.
