Just one month into the new National League season and we are already in chapter three of coaching changes. This time, it is regarding HC Ambrì-Piotta. Head coach Luca Cereda and team manager Paolo Duca have both decided to call it quits after eight years with the team, as "Blick" reports from a press conference this morning.
"Cereda and I did not want to leave", Duca states. "But we were disgraced—in front of the entire team." "Watson"'s Klaus Zaugg recently wrote about president Filippo Lombardi meeting with Christian Dubé to talk about a possible future at Ambrì - this was apparently done without telling Duca and Cereda, but the team reportedly knew.
Lombari himself was also part of the press conference. "“I am primarily angry with myself. I did not understand the situation and did not handle it correctly.", the 69-year-old is cited by "Watson". Besides that, he is stepping down from his position as president.
For now, at least until the possible announcenemt of Dubé's arrival in the Leventina, the team will be lead by assistants Éric Landry und René Matte.
