A Swedish victor(y) is usually not very well-liked in Switzerland, but EHC Biel has taken one onto their payroll nonetheless. From the Boston Bruins, Victor Söderström joins the squad on a two-year deal. The move was already reported by "Expressen" in April.
On their website, Biel describes their new acquisition as "an excellent skater" with "a keen understanding of the game" that "plays with discipline" and "uses his positioning to effectively anticipate attacks", as well as being able to " initiate a structured breakout through quick decision-making."
Söderström was part of Bryäns for most of his junior time and eventually graduated to men's hockey there. Selected eleventh overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes (now the Utah Mammoth), he went overseas during the 2020-21 season and spent the next three years mostly suiting up in the AHL.
In 2024, he headed back to Brynäs, but took another shot at the NHL last summer, this time with the Boston Bruins. However, he again played the majority of the season in the AHL. Now, at 25, he is returning to Europe once more.
