Filander's name had come up in connection with EHC Biel's vacant coaching position a while ago. Last week "Blick" reported that the two parties had agreed to terms. At the time, Steinegger had, however, not been willing to confirm the report.
Filander last coached IK Oskarshamn and was named Swedish coach of the year in 2022 and SHL coach of the year in 2023.
