Both the 34-year-old Czech goalie and the 31-year-old Finnish defender have been signed to two-year contracts.

Šimon Hrubec

Important renewals for the ZSC Lions, which have reached an agreement with their starting goaltender, who has proven to be among the best goalies in the National League, and with their import defender. Šimon Hrubec and Mikko Lehtonen both joined the Lions for the 2022-23 season and have contributed to the back-to-back championships and the conquest of the Champions Hockey League in 2025.

On the roster of Zurich, only two imports are on an expiring contract now, namely Derek Grant and Rudolfs Balcers, and naturally, Pontus Åberg, who has been signed as an injury replacement.

Team manager Sven Leuenberger is enthusiastic about the chance to keep working with Hrubec and Lehtonen: “Simon and Mikko have been pillars of the team over the past two years, winning three titles. Simon exudes incredible calm in goal, giving us the chance to win every game. Mikko is a very experienced defender who can make an impact both defensively and offensively."
