The 38-year-old forward played his last game for HC Ambrì-Piotta last night. It will also have been the last of his career.

Asked by "HeShootsHeScoores" how he felt after the horn ended the game, Dario Bürgler admitted to it having been an emotional moment: "I shed a couple of tears—I won’t deny it. I’m feeling better now; the emotions have settled down a bit, but it certainly feels strange to me. Hockey has been my life; I spent five years in Ambrì and formed many deep friendships that I’ll definitely maintain in the future.”

Bürgler played junior hockey for EHC Seewen until he joined EV Zug in 2001. He stayed with the Bulls until 2007, when he signed with HC Davos. He would, however, return to EVZ in 2014 for another three seasons. He then suited up for HC Lugano and joined HC Ambrì-Piotta in 2021.

The forward has won two titles with HC Davos and also won two Spengler Cups, once as a member of HC Davos and once as a member of the Biancoblù. He appeared in 946 regular-season games and 132 postseason games throughout his career.
