Despite a contract valid until the end of the 2026-27 season, Biel and the Finn have agreed to go their separate ways.

The departure of Aleksi Heponiemi from EHC Biel does not come as a surprise, as since the end of the past season, there were rumors that the Seeländer wanted to find a new team for the 26-year-old Finn, with reportedly an interest from Sweden. At the moment, it is not clear where Heponiemi will play next. With this transaction, Biel now has seven imports under contract, including Viktor Lööv, whose future in Biel was said to be uncertain.
