National League

The Canadian defenseman, without a team since this past summer, will stick around until the end of the season.

Nathan Beaulieu spent the majority of his career in the NHL so far, last with the Anaheim Ducks. This autumn, however, he did not manage to land a spot in North America, even after a try-out with the Carolina Hurricanes. Instead, the 30-year-old is now joining EHC Kloten until the end of the season.

"Nathan is an extremely complete defenseman who stood out in the NHL for his physical and consistent defensive play", team manager Larry Mitchell notes. "But he also has great qualities in the offensive end, which he has been able to demonstrate time and again in the best hockey league in the world."

A former first-round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens, Beaulieu has 492 NHL games (for various teams) under his belt. Besides that, the defenseman also suited up 136 times in the AHL.

Whether Beaulieu will be allowed and able to suit up prior to the international break is not yet clear.
