EHC Kloten signs Ilves' Simon Johansson

Swedish newspaper "Expressen" already announced it a few days ago, EHC Kloten now confirmed it - defenseman Simon Johansson is moving from the Liiga's Ilves Tampere to the National League team coming summer.

"Simon is a strong offensive defenseman with excellent technical skills and strengths on the power play and on the breakout", team manager Ricardo Schöder comments the addition.

So far this winter, he has been Ilves' best goal scorer with 19 and sits second overall in points with 40 (across 46 games), which is also the most among any defenseman in the Liiga.

Coming up through Djurgårdens' youth department, the Swede made his SHL debut during the 2017-18 season. In 2021, he joined Ilves, moved overseas a year later to play for the Iowa Wild (Minnesota's AHL affiliate), and returned to Tampere in 2024.
