In a press release to "STT", Miro Aaltonen spoke about the allegations: "During the break before Christmas 2024, I have been in a nightclub and apparently used a substance for entertainment purposes that does not improve performance but is prohibited in sport."
He goes on to apologize to the club, his teammates, the fans, and his family and states that he will seek "professional help and face the consequences of my actions." He hopes to be able to return to hockey "as soon as I am allowed to do so."
Aaltonen is awaiting the result of the investigation of the Swiss Sport Integrity and it remains to be seen if and how long he will be suspended. The forward is EHC Kloten's leading scorer (20 goals, 15 assists in 35 games) and is third on his team in terms of TOI (19:36 minutes/game).
