SC Bern remains committed to acquiring goalkeeper Connor Hughes from Lausanne HC. The Lions are reportedly willing to let the 29-year-old go in exchange for the Bear's defenseman Romain Loeffel. However, as the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" writes, the deal is proving difficult to finalize.
The sticking point seems to be Lausanne’s search for Hughes' replacement. Their preferred candidate, Ewan Huet, still under contract with EHC Kloten, would likely be available for a transfer fee of around CHF 60,000, which Lausanne would like to include in the deal for Hughes. However, according to the "NZZ", Bern is unwilling to pay this amount.
Furthermore, EHC Biel is also reportedly hoping to sign Hughes.
