HC Fribourg-Gottéron have been looking for some import support due to Lucas Wallmark's absence. Their quest was successful - Kyle Rau will join the National League team for the remainder of the year. Stemming from the US, the forward last played in the KHL (Kunlun Red Star) but has not suited up professionally so far this season.

"We are delighted to have signed Kyle Rau, as the market is extremely limited and contested", Fribourg's team manager, Gerd Zenhäusern, states. "Signing a seventh import player is crucial to help the team achieve its goals."

Throughout his career, Rau was mostly employed in the AHL, but also gathered some NHL experience (Florida, Minnesota). He stands at 63 NHL games and 501 AHL appearances. In the KHL, he hit the ice 20 times.
