Confirmed - Rodwin Dionicio joins SC Bern

Defenseman Rodwin Dionicio is leaving EHC Biel to join SC Bern. The Seelanders are letting the defenseman leave early and, according to the club’s own press release, will receive a substantial transfer fee, though the details of which have been kept confidential.

For the 22-year-old, this marks a return; he previously played for SCB’s junior team from 2019 to 2021 before moving to North America. “Rodwin is a talented offensive defenseman, and we’re very pleased that he’s returning to Bern and wants to continue developing with us,” SCB sports director Martin Plüss said. Dionicio has signed a three-year contract with the Bears valid through 2029. 

“We would have liked to continue our collaboration beyond the current contract term and offer him long-term prospects in Biel,” EHCB team manager Martin Steinegger said. “However, after it became clear that our visions for our shared future did not align, we decided to seek a solution that works for both sides.”

Dionicio had returned from North America in early 2025 and had been playing for the Seelanders ever since. Last season, he played a total of 51 games and recorded 27 points (six goals).
