Expressen already reported in March of a rumored interest of HC Davos in Rasmus Asplund. That interest has now concretized in a two-year deal. Team manager Jan Alston describes Asplund as a smart and all-around player: “Rasmus is a classic two-way center who masters all game situations. He is very intelligent, reads the game excellently, and brings a lot of speed.”

This past season, Asplund mostly suited up in the AHL for the Charlotte Checkers, the partner team of the Florida Panthers, recording 25 goals and 27 assists in 81 games. With the Checkers he reached the playoffs final, eventually losing to the Abbotsford Canucks. Before that, he also suited up for the Buffalo Sabres - which drafted him 33rd overall in 2016 - and the Nashville Predators, totalling 49 points in 189 NHL games.
