Five years after leaving Genève-Servette's youth department HC for North America, Matthew Verboon is back in Switzerland. He has signed with HC Lugano for the coming season. In February, the "Corriere del Ticino" had already reported the addition.

"Matthew is a guy with a strong personality, a high-energy forward who will give depth to our line-up", team manager Hnat Domenichelli states. "We welcome him to Lugano."

Verboon spent the last four seasons playing for the NCAA's Colgate University. In a total of 127 games for them, the 24-year-old recorded 31 goals and 48 assists.
