Mauro Jörg disclosed the news at today's season-end event. He decided to take that step due to health reasons:  "I have a heart defect. It was detected 14 years ago. In October, during one of the many medical check-ups I have to undergo, it was found that my condition had worsened. I consulted three different cardiologists, all of whom urged me to stop. When the club told me that they didn't want to keep me on, it was clear that I wasn't going to take any chances."

Jörg had been playing for HC Fribourg-Gottéron for the past four seasons. Before that, he was under contract with HC Lugano.

Jörg is a product of EHC Chur's organization and played for them until 2008. He then joined HC Lugano, signed with the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in 2012, agreed to terms with HC Davos in 2014 and won a title with the team in the same season. Jörg appeared in over 800 National League games.
