From the next season until spring 2028, Daniel Olsson will play for HC Lugano. The 20-year-old Dane is currently under contract with the ZSC Lions but also plays for their partner team, the GCK Lions, in the Swiss League. The big forward (190 cm, 87 kg) holds a Swiss player's license, having gone through the Lions' organization.
Team manager Janick Steinmann believes that Olsson has great potential: "I’m very happy that Daniel signed with HC Lugano because he is a very interesting prospect who has great potential to become a very good forward in the National League. His size and speed are at a very high level".
This season, Olsson collected six points in nine games with the GCK Lions and also appeared in 13 games with ZSC, but has not recorded a point with them yet.
Additionally, the Bianconeri announced two extensions: goaltender Niklas Schlegel and forward Marco Zanetti both signed a two-year contract. Schlegel, 31, has been a member of the club since the 2019-20 season, while Zanetti debuted in the National League with the Bianconeri in the 2022-23 season.
In the current regular season, Schlegel is statistically the sixth-best goalkeeper with a save percentage of 0.923, while the Italian forward has collected two points in twelve games.
Finally, HC Lugano has put an end to Linus Omark's saga by informing that the Swede, despite being interested in returning to Lugano after the international break, decided to stay in Sweden. As the club explains, the decision not to sign a new agreement for the remainder of the season was made for family reasons. In particular, the Omark family did not consider the proposed schooling solutions in Switzerland to be suitable for their daughters.
