Initially expected to leave Biel for Geneva only from the 2027-28 season, Kneubuehler will instead move effective immediately.

Johnny Kneubuehler

Genève-Servette HC and EHC Biel have agreed on an early transfer of Johnny Kneubuehler to the Grenats. With them, the 30-year-old has signed a deal valid until 2030. Kneubuehler thus leaves EHC Biel after two years and returns to his youth team.

EHC Biel's team manager Martin Steinegger respects Johnny Kneubühler's decision to sign with Geneva for 2027-28 even before the start of the upcoming season but underlines their stance: "We at EHC Biel have a clear policy: We want players on our roster who fully identify with our club and our goals."

For his part, GSHC's team manager Marc Gautschi is delighted that Johnny is returning to Geneva: "He’s made significant progress over the past two years [...]. Thanks to his speed and tenacious play, he fits the profile we were looking for.”

Simultaneously with Johnny Kneubuehler's departure, EHC Biel announces the signing of Joël Vermin to a one-year deal. The 34-year-old had been a free agent since SC Bern did not extend his contract at the end of the past season after four years.

In the 2025-26 season, Johnny Kneubuehler scored a career-high 13 goals and put up three assists in 50 games, while Joël Vermin collected 12 points in 47 games.
