"I made my decision calmly. I am slowly becoming aware of how far I have come. But it is not yet time to take stock," Julien Sprunger said. "We want to give our all for the rest of the season to get as far as possible."
Sprunger has only ever played for HC Fribourg-Gottéron at the National League level and has been the Dragons' captain since the 2014-15 season. The forward has appeared in 1149 games for the team thus far, recording 810 points.
While he will no longer work for the Dragons as a player, he will remain with the organisation and take on a different role. The specifics of his new position were not mentioned by the Dragons in the press release.
