The still young season has claimed its first coaching victim - Jussi Tapola. SC Bern is releasing the Finnish head coach and his fellow countryman, assistant Pasi Puistola. "Unfortunately, we have had to conclude that the team's performance since the start of the season has not met our expectations", Sport Director Martin Plüss notes.
Tapola was part of the Bears since 2023, and has managed to lead his squad to one fifth-and one third-place finish in the regular season. Pasi Puistola, meanwhile, was hired this past summer. At the moment, Bern sits in eleventh place.
The Sport Director continues: "After analyzing the situation, we have come to the conclusion that a change in the coaching position is necessary for the tasks ahead."
In the two Finn's stead, current assistant Patrick Schöb will take over, with Tuomas Tuokkola, coaching staff member of the U21, by his side.
