The SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers have signed homegrown talent Laurin Fuhrer to a professional contract valid from the 2027–28 season through the end of the 2029–30 season. The 18-year-old defenseman has been playing in the Lakers’ youth system since the U15 level and made his professional debut last season.

“Laurin has made a huge leap in performance over the past few months and is being used in all key situations for the Lakers’ U21 Elite team,” the Lakers' team manager Claudio Cadonau comments about his homegrown talent. “He is an agile skater with good vision and an exemplary attitude.”

Fuhrer has played nine games (one goal, three assists) for the Lakers’ U21 team so far this season. In August, he was named to the U20 national team for the first time as part of the 5-Nations Tournament in Finland, though he did not see any action.
