Lausanne HC has announced the signing of Sami Niku to a deal valid until 2027. He joins them from National League rival EHC Kloten, where he spent the previous season. In Lausanne, the Finnish defenseman will get to play alongside four of his fellow countrymen.

"Sami Niku has undeniable talent, which we had already noticed before his excellent first season in Switzerland", team manager John Fust notes. "With his all-around defender's profile, capable of bringing dynamism to the attack while ensuring defensive solidity, he strengthens Lausanne's rearguard for the next two seasons."

During his time with Kloten, the 28-year-old suited up 61 times, recording five goals and 26 assists.

A product of JYP, Niku brings the experience of 236 games in the Liiga, 67 in the NHL, 174 in the AHL, and seven as part of Finland's men's national team.
