The 23-year-old right-handed defenseman will leave the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers next spring after three seasons.

After Fribourg and Rapperswil, the next stop in David Aebischer's career will be Lugano. The sought-after defender has eventually decided to commit to the Bianconeri with a long-term contract that will run through the 2028-29 season. In Lugano, Aebischer will look to improve further and lock his spot in the Swiss national team.

Hnat Domenichelli, team manager of HC Lugano, sees a lot of potential in Aebischer: "David is a top defender among the players in his class. We think he can become a top defender in our league for many years. His profile best matches what our coach Luca Gianinazzi wants for building the Lugano of the future."

This season so far, Aebischer has already collected eight points in ten games with the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, making him the second Swiss defender (and fifth overall) in the league, only behind ZSC Lions' Dean Kukan. With almost 21 minutes on the ice per game, Aebischer is the Lakers' most-used player.
